West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice says the state is working to contain a surge in coronavirus cases at Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital in Huntington. One nurse, a loyal member of UE Local 170, has died as a result.
State health officer Dr. Ayne Amjad said there are 58 active COVID-19 cases, including 29 staff workers and 29 patients. The West Virginia National Guard has been called in to deep clean, officials said, and Amjad said she has checked out the facility for herself.
