Senators are concerned about wide-ranging problems within the DHHR, with one calling citing a “leadership problem.”

Eric Tarr, a Republican who represents all of Mason and Jackson counties, plus parts of Putnam and Roane, wrote a A letter that asks for the Joint Committee on Government and Finance to examine several concerns:

  • Out-of-state placement of foster children;
  • The agency’s use of contract nurses;
  • The condition of forensic group homes;
  • And the slow pace of computer upgrades that could help the agency improve its efficiency.
