That hasn’t been the case in many of our workplaces, and UE Local 170 is continuing the fight. We are always busy in the state employees grievance system, and we can report several successes.
The victories include a settlement agreement worth close to $55,000 in back pay and restored benefits. We also had a termination rescinded, with the employee able to file for retirement, and have had several suspensions reversed.
We are representing members in a few dozen cases before the Public Employees Grievance Board, but we also are working on getting a few problems resolved before the worker enters the process. That’s not a bad result in many cases – many of you know how drawn-out and painful the grievance process is.
