The state Personnel Board, finally adhering to a law passed on 2017, passed a new pay plan for Division of Highways employees.
The issue has triggered a mass grievance against the DOH with more than 400 workers signing on. That case, Eleanor Goodman et al. v. DOH, is pending at Level 3.
The board was far from unanimous on the issue, which was triggered by the 2017 passage of the Roads to Prosperity amendment to the state Constitution. The longstanding bureaucratic complaint was repeated by at least one member and state Personnel Director Sheryl Webb.
“It is difficult for me, being the director of Personnel, to recommend that a second classification system be added to the state,” she said.
