UE Local 170 Chapter 4 members picket outside
of PEIA public hearing in Beckley.

UE Local 170 is strongly encouraging West Virginia public employees and retirees to mobilize and speak out against PEIA's "draconian" benefit cuts. PEIA is proposing $120 million in benefit cuts next year. This is on top of the $40 million in benefit cuts this past year.

This is how the proposed cuts will impact you:

  • Deductibles will increase $500 for single coverage and $1,000 for family plans.
  • Out-of-pocket maximum expenses will increase $1,500 for single and $3,000 for family.
  • Prescription drug deductibles, out-of-pocket maximums, and monthly cost sharing all increase.

You can read PEIA's proposal by clicking on the link here.

West Virginia public employees and retirees can not afford benefit cuts of this size. WV public employees and retirees will be forced to choose between paying their regular monthly bills, or seeking needed medical care. The proposed cuts represent a huge pay cut for WV public employees and retirees.

Contact Governor Tomblin at 304-558-3588 and demand that he appropriate the funds to cover the $120 million projected deficit. Tell Governor Tomblin to stop balancing the budget on the backs of WV public employees and retirees and to start adequately funding PEIA!
