UE Local 170 rank-and-file members from across West Virginia will be gathering at Canaan Valley Resort State Park on September 19 and 20 at our local's highest decision-making body: the annual statewide convention. Over the past months, our local's chapters have nominated and elected rank-and-file delegates and alternates to represent their members at the convention.

During the annual convention, delegates will nominate and elect our local's statewide officers, trustees, and delegates to national and regional council meetings. (All of the positions are voluntary and unpaid, requiring members willing to commit their time and energy in carrying out the policies and program of our union and our members.) The delegates will hear reports from the National Union and Eastern Regional Council. The delegates will also hear reports on the local's chapters, finances, grievances, organizing, and political action work over the past year since the last convention. Delegates will also be voting on the local's legislative priorities and political action goals for the coming year.

Any UE Local 170 member in good-standing can attend the statewide convention, but only delegates who were elected by their chapter's members can vote. All members will be receiving a notice of the convention in the mail. If you haven't received your notice, you can download it here. If you have any questions, please call the local at our new office phone number: 304-347-4396.
